About Us

Loading the kilnLiving Clay Ceramics specialises in the creation of bespoke commemorative pet urns from water-based ceramic clay. Urns can be glazed (advisable if they are to be placed outside) or painted to simulate the particular markings of your beloved animal.

Our studio is based in Branovo in the Nové Zámky District of south-west Slovakia where sculptor Roman Miskovic has over 15 years experience creating commemorative figurines and trophies.

The Process

The aim of each commission is to capture the ‘living image’ of your pet. We understand that this is subjective and so clients are closely involved during the modelling phase to ensure that they are happy with the end result. We have set out a guide below that outlines the various stages of this process so prospective clients will know what to expect. If you have any questions regarding any aspect of a commission please don’t hesitate to contact us.

1 – Submit enquiry form
Prospective customers can complete an enquiry form either online or by post from the commission enquiry pack. This involves providing some details about your pet (type of animal, breed, distinguishing features etc), some photographs, and your contact details.

2 – Receive quotation
We will respond to your enquiry within 48hrs and provide you with a no-obligation quotation including the cost of the sculpture, the cost of shipping, and an indication of lead time (our next available slot to begin your sculpture if you wish to proceed).

3 – Pay deposit
If you are happy with the quotation we ask clients to pay an initial upfront deposit of 25%. This enables us to book the agreed start date and commence work. As each sculpture is bespoke the initial deposit is non-refundable, however, you will not be required to pay for any further work unless you are completely satisfied.

4 – Progress photos
Once the sculpture had been ‘roughed out’ clients will receive photographs (while the clay is still wet) via email jpeg. Email is preferred for the sake of expediency and a quick response is appreciated as the clay will dry out in a short time. We can arrange to place photos on our server where they can be viewed online if clients do not have access to email. Once progress photographs have been received we will contact the client via email or phone call to discuss the likeness and any changes that need to be made. This review stage will be repeated if any changes are required until the client is satisfied with the resemblance.

5 – Final review
We will send the final review photographs and client will complete sign off before the accelerated drying process begins. At this stage the client will pay a further 45% of the agreed fee.

5 – Dispatch
Clients will receive a final email jpeg of the finished sculpture before dispatch. The final payment of 30% plus the agree shipping charge is then paid.

6 – Transit
Once our courier provides delivery confirmation we will contact the client to confirm safe transit and ensure that the sculpture has met their expectations. We may also ask clients to provide feedback for our web site.

[As previously stated apart from the initial deposit, clients will not be required to pay for any work unless they are completely satisfied].
